Back to work... 04/19/2012

It's been an exciting few weeks at Morgan Music Productions, and not necessarily for all the right reasons...

Things have been rather disrupted recently after David had an unexpected few weeks in hospital and some even more unexpected surgery. We're pleased to say that he is recovering well and keen to get back to work - though the next few weeks will see him taking things a little slower than usual!

All this unexpected time sitting around not doing much has left our brains with plenty of time to dream up some new ideas. We've got some exciting new projects that we can't wait to get started on - so keep checking back for lots of new things over the coming weeks and months, including several FREE offers.

Website changes 01/12/2012

New year, new page!
We've divided our website up a little differently, and introduced a new page. We've also got rid of some of the text, and more will be disappearing in due course. Our aim is to make the website simpler and easier to understand, and to communicate as best we can a flavour of just what Morgan Music Productions can do for you.
But we can't put everything on here - so get in touch and find out how we can help your church, your ensemble, your event, your magazine - you!

For all you brass players out there, we have special reductions on two of our most popular quintet arrangements.

Wachet Auf and In Dulci Jubilo are both available for purchase and download from Score Exchange - but now, a score and five parts will set you back less than US$10 in total!

New arrangement 09/09/2011

As promised, we are starting to release music for you to refresh your repertoire in time for Christmas.

We are delighted to make available David's arrangement of Gaudete, Christus est natus which is now published for downlaod on Score Exchange - yours for the very low price of just US$2! It's a straightforward but exciting sing which will make a great crowd-pleasing addition to your carol concert or service.

Also a reminder that David's short introit Creator of the Starry Height is also available on Score Exchange - this one requires a significant contribution from the organist, but the choir parts are simple. The perfect start to a more reflective service during Advent.

Has your church started planning for Christmas yet?

It's worth thinking about now, particularly if you have a choir who will be singing a carol service (or perhaps more than one). The sooner you know what repertoire you are intending to use over Christmas, the better you can plan your repertoire and rehearsals in the build-up. We think that it's vital to keep the repertoire fresh for a choir in the Christmas period - it's a good antidote to dozens and dozens of verses of 'O come, all ye faithful'!

We are preparing for publication several new arrangements which can refresh your seasonal repertoire - keep checking the website for the first news.

Make sure also that you take a good honest look at the liturgies you are using over Christmas. In many churches, the traditional 'Nine Lessons and Carols' format will be used, sadly not always successfully. Don't be afraid to try something a bit different, especially if choral singing is not your church's strength. At a time of year when many church congregations swell with visitors, it's essential to make the liturgy clear, simple and effective. Get in touch with us here at Morgan Music Productions and find out how we can help you!

Have a listen... 08/10/2011

Thanks to our friends at The Staffordshire Band, one of David's pieces has arrived on YouTube!

A link relating to the slow movement of David's Fantasies for Band is on the Music page of this website (as is a link to The Staffordshire Band's own website); or you can just click here.

Come and Sing! 07/17/2011

Thanks to everyone who came and took part in the 'Come and Sing!' evening we led at St. Mary & All Saints in Kidderminster on Friday night. We hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Don't forget that we can help you to put on a 'Come and Sing!' evening at your church. The aim is to get people singing together - it's not a choral event (though we can help with those too!), all that people need to take part is to be willing to join in. It's singing for fun and for worship, with hopefully a little bit of education and something thought-provoking in there as well. Get in touch with us and find out more!

Following an enquiry via this website, we are delighted to be able to make available David's arrangement of the march 'The British Legion' for organ solo.

The arrangement is available to view and purchase at Score Exchange: http://www.scoreexchange.com/scores/110628.html

For a long time David has been making some of his music available online at a website called Sibeliusmusic. The publishing part of that website is now migrating to a new site called Score Exchange - and so David is migrating too!

For the team managing the transition this is a huge task with hundreds of thousands of scores to be dealt with, so this process will obviously take a little time. Hopefully we have made David's move as smooth as possible; the main links on this site have been updated, and in due time we hope to add links to enable you to 'click through' to specific pieces. If you do experience any difficulties with the links, please let us know.

On the Music page, you can now find a sample page (PDF) of David's orchestration of Pirates of Penzance, which is available for hire (score and parts) by contacting us.

Also, the Church page now includes a sample outline order of service (PDF) to give you an idea of what we are talking about.

In time we hope to include other examples of our work, but at the moment we have no plans to turn this website into a liturgical "online library" - but if you our visitors would like that, then do contact us and let us know and we will reconsider!
